Two weeks later and I’m in the opposite corner of the country. On one of the coldest days of the year, my friend and I left Ithaca, NY to go to Taughannock Falls on Cayuga Lake. Okay, it wasn’t very far away. But it was beautiful.

Nice shots. I think I like the one showing the bottom of the falls and the ice on the cliff the best. It looks like it was a cold day but it also looks like the winter has generally been very mild for upstate New York. Maybe I’m wrong, but I would expect that lake to be frozen over in a typical winter.
In 2009, there was a week-long cold snap and towards the end of it I ventured into the Columbia Gorge to take pictures of the ice formations on the waterfalls: http://bfretro.smugmug.com/Nature/Gorge-Cold-Snap/
