Anachrotechnofetishism Opening Night Roundup

Actually, that photo isn’t from the opening night, it’s from Wednesday night, as we worked diligently to piece the show together. But after a quick scour of Flickr for “Anachrotechnofetishism” I came across a good number of photosets with pictures from the evening: Alison Velvetgarden, Suite 100, Helix 90, Adameros, Porkshanks, and of course these earlier ones from Myself.

The show is up until October 3rd at Suite 100 Gallery, and you can even view and buy the work online as well.

Palin’s Email Hacked

It’s all over the news, of course, but McCain’s VP candidate Sarah Palin had her yahoo mail hacked by hacktivist non-group Anonymous. They posted the contents of the account to that glorious site WikiLeaks [ article / zip files ]. Besides just being a generally awesome thing to do, this is particularly interesting because Palin has been accused of using personal email to conduct state’s business to avoid FOIA access to her business. Well, when freedom is granted, it is taken. Here’s to Anonymous. An interesting article about Anonymous and the action can be found at Ornaments Of The Tree.

Airships!

I secretly (openly?) started this blog because I wanted to run an airship blog. Airships and trains, that’s how to travel.

So we’ll start with this bit of news: DARPA (military mad scientists) was given $2 million to investigate airship manufacturer Aeros‘ latest attempt at technological advance, what they call BAAV. From the comments over at DangerRoom’s Article:

WorldWide Aeros claims that they can adjust the buoyancy of their ship by compressing helium into an internal reservoir. This is theoretically possible. No one in the airship community outside of WorldWide Aeros … believes that WWA can do it.

Like Birds Before The Storm,

so dark before the dawn.

The title of this blog is inspired by a bit of poetry out of the long-extinct gothic-rock band The Thaw. Two members of The Thaw make up Ego Likeness, an excellent gothic-rock-dance band.

I started this site because I lacked a free-form blog. I post about steampunk at SteamPunk Magazine and some of my zines are posted at Strangers In A Tangled Wilderness, but I wanted a place to ramble and post neat links about airships. Expect pieces from upcoming zines, strange links, intermittent service, and other things of that nature.
